Dunno about VA but here in TX they put a light meter on the window and check the % of light that gets thru. If it's < 25% you fail. Also cops don't like not being able to see into your car if you get pulled over. Darker tint= higher probability you get a gun drawn on you.

Looks like VA tint laws are more stringent than TX: http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/VA/

dude, it says any kind of red tint is illegal in this VA... ok than tell me why a lady stays down the street from me that has a 2007 red g35 sedan with red tints? I wonder how many tickets she's gotten? I wonder did she pass inspection?

I live in NC the law is 35% all around. Like others I looked at Llumar 35 and agree it wasn't worth it. Still wanting to stay with a non metalic the guy brought out SunTek's Carbon 35. This film was noticably thicker and darker then anything else we had looked at. He mentioned it had improved scratch protection and a lifetime warrenty and I was sold. I couldn't believe it would be legal and he brought the lightmeter out to prove it. Give it a look if your looking for a black Tint that's still legal. He also did a shaving application which is where they take the tint to the very edge of the window, no border, yea it's best if you limit opening the coor for a day or two due to the autoroll up but it wasn't a problem. Shaving can cost an extra $50, total job for me was $200, he through it in for free and offer a window cleaning 3 days later. AutoFx, Pineville, NC.

I agree, the back seat windows are so tiny, I would think it would be cheap to tint our cars due to this fact, less work, less tint, you would think it would equal less price, apparently not however.
