Hey all:
It's been years since I was here. Like most people, the last of my ancient 30-pin (iPhone 4) products is just about dead.
I've searched around here, including the sticky above, but that hasn't had traffic for a decade! Is that possible?
In any event, is there a forum-consensus as to what the best way is to get audio from an Apple device, to the stock head unit?
The 30-pin to Lightning cables are hard to come by, and only the old Apple ones can supposedly pass audio.
I know about the Bovee BT device on Amazon, but don't know whether that is an effective solution, or just a waste of $70.
I'd appreciate any input from those of you who have moved forward, with a good solution.
Hi, I'm new here and new to the G37. I just picked up an 08 s coupe 6mt in July. It had the iPod connector, red white yellow rca jacks and a 12volt socket in the center console. My Samsung phone connected for calls only, no music or audio books.
It came with the iPod connector and I bought the bovee and power pack from amazon...now I have full call and audio
I had ordered both parts after receiving mixed feedback about that same question, intending to return the 12v if it worked without...however, I did need to use it.
Now I have call and audio seamlessly. I leave the entire assembly intact and it draws no power with the car off. No complaints whatsoever.
You can see the factory setup from the pic...08 s coupe, red white yellow RCA jacks, and 12v socket.
Cool. Thanks for the additional info. One other question; are you able to use more "contemporary" streaming services (Pandora, Spotify, etc) through the head unit? Or does it mostly still work with audio resident on the phone?
My phone is a Samsung, And i don't use any of those services, but Sirius xm app works perfectly, as well as "voice" an app I use to play audiobooks.
Pretty much anything that will come out of my phones speaker will come through the speakers with this. If you can hear it on Bluetooth headphones, you'll hear it come through the car speakers.
Obviously its not Apple carplay or android auto...but my steering wheel controls work and I'm able to hear any audio coming out of the phone.
I would recommend ordering all the equipment you need, and sending it back if it doesn't do what you want it to.
