2013 G37 rear deck woofer

If I wanted to replace my Bose 10" woofer with another aftermarket one, what ohm reading is the woofer? I am considering just using the factory rear deck; I assume it is like an Infinite Baffle. Having had tons of big bass systems in the past, I just want a little bump to have necessary trunk space. Has anyone mounted IB speakers there? Is that the same woofer that's also in the rear doors? If so, it's probably not a dedicated subwoofer and the factory amp is too weak.

Your rear deck Bose sub has its own "onboard" power amp. So the connections from the main Bose amp are one line-level audio signal and an "amp on" + signal when the system is on. What I don't know is if the audio is already LP filtered by the main amp or if that processing is done by this little satellite amp.

Personally. I'd recommend leaving the Bose system intact (free air subs will never knock your socks off) and tapping a low level connection off the Bose amp and running a separate sub/amp using one of these connectors @OWC created: https://www.owc-upgrades.com/product...latinum-series

Prior to OWC, I did this manually, but these guys have made it plug and play.

I currently run a 10" JL entry level Sub with a JL JX250 running at 175W into 4 ohms with this .77 cubic feet sealed box which slides nicely up into the driver's side corner of the trunk: https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item...zN9wbmhxlZfVrD

I also have an Epicenter DSP for bass enhancement/reconstruction. The setup compliments the Bose OEM system nicely, but off course, bass is like money and power, so Santa is bringing me a new Sub/Amp that will vibrate the bolts in the subframe loose and I will move my current setup to my son's CRV.

Balanced vs. Unbalanced

I was going through the forum and somebody mentioned that if you tap the low level input from the preamp and run the rcas to the amp, it creates an unbalanced situation. The factory wires are balaced and they mentioned that the only way to create this is to run a ground back to the head unit. Something about the ground wire being different in the rca versus stock wiring. I assume you could just add a DSP or Epicenter to that. I will probably do that. Yeah, I probably won't mount a free air sub, as it isn't worth the money.

I spoke to Chris this morning, the Owner/Engineer behind OWC Upgrades.

From the Bose amp, there are two differential/balanced signals, one for each channel (i.e. amp needs to accept two signals on each channel).

If you buy an amp that that only accepts single-ended signals, it still may not work and if you call Chris (number is on the website), he can provide a list of recommended amps.

There are two models of this adapter that he sells, the Platinum series which uses higher end components and has a shield tied to vehicle chassis: https://www.owc-upgrades.com/product...latinum-series

And a budget friendly version called Redline, which does not.

Hope this helps.
