Call Audio Issue

After a little research (albeit, don't think Google was understanding what I was trying to find), I am coming here to ask:

2011 G37S with nav. When I connect my phone to the car music audio works PERFECTLY. However, calls are usually bugged out. The audio won't go on the car and it will only work when turning swapping to my phones speaker then back to Bluetooth (x amount of times I have to do this). There are times where it works perfectly as well.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I had a lot of Bluetooth bugs with my 2012 with nav. I am not an expert, but I suspect the main issue is that we are trying to connect phones with 12 years of Bluetooth changes and improvements to infotainment systems still using technology from when the car was built. Bluetooth is supposed to be backwards compatible, but I have found that any Bluetooth device more than a few years old starts to get buggy when connecting with newer hardware/software.

I fixed my issues by installing a Grom Vlite. That one $400 change made the car interior feel modern. Android Auto/Car Play is so much better than the stock Nissan infotainment, and a simple hardware connection is much more stable and predicable than anything Bluetooth I have experienced.

iOS 17 was fine on my iPhone 14 Pro. It is constantly dropping/not working since moving to a 15 Pro. Hence while I'm here looking for solutions. I believe I'm running the original 2009 firmware.
