USB to bluetooth audio adapter

First time posting here, so I apologize if I did not search correctly and someone already posted this. I just purchased a 2012 G37 coupe, and was disappointed to learn I could not stream audio via bluetooth, or use the usb with my Nexus 5. After searching for a bit, I found the NAXA NAB-4003 adapter. It's only about $10.00, and it works great. All you do is plug it into the usb port, pair your phone, and it plays music over the speakers. I've only tried it with Spotify so far, but it should work with anything.

Hope this helps anyone else who is looking for a cheap, easily solution to stream via bluetooth!

Is this the only bluetooth adapter that works with g37 or any other bluetooth usb adapter would work?

I would assume any adapter would work that allows music to be streamed via USB. However, this was the only one I found - most were geared towards allowing a mouse or keyboard to transmit data, and this one wasn't expensive. The only downside is you can't use the steering wheel controls to select tracks.

There are other threads discussing this issue. Seems like most adapters don't work. I've been looking for something like this. Glad you found it. Does it show track information on the screen?

That's awesome that the car recognizes the USB connection and allows music to stream. I've read how many people can only stream music over USB from Apple products, not from Android...so the device must be somehow pretendint to act like Apple.

Also, as a bit of trivia, in order to stream audio over Bluetooth, both devices must support A2DP protocol. This is the required protocol to send music of Bluetooth. I still shake my head when I see a car (or any BT device) that has bluetooth capabilities, but only for calls, not for streaming. It doesn't really cost more to have A2DP support (or maybe it's a $1 surcharge for licensing). If it lacks A2DP support, IMHO, that's the manufacturer trying to screw you over. In this day-and-age, there's no excuse to leave this feature off.

Nissan does this with their 2014 Sentra. The SR model supports bluetooth for making calls if you spend $1080 on the SR Driver Package...but you still can't stream audio until you drop another $800 on the Navigation package.

The $10 NAXA adapter in this thread even supports A2DP...SMH

Ross7778 - I was really surprised it worked, and was so cheap. Sadly, it doesn't show the track information. However, I spoke too soon about the steering wheel controls not working - they actually work! I've also found I can still use my phone for phone calls over the car speakers, I just had to go into settings on my phone and uncheck the NAXA adapter for phone pairing. So basically I know have full Bluetooth capabilities in my car, which is a Godsend.

G37Xtreme - I searched all over looking for an answer - I was about to give up. I agree there is no excuse to leave the Bluetooth feature off newer cars. My wife has a 2010 Escape with sync, and it works perfectly. My fusion I traded it also had sync, and with a long commute, I need my streaming music.

One pitfall I've sound with the adapter, and it might just be my phone, is there is a bit of lag sometimes. If I skip a track or pause, it takes about 5 seconds for the song to actually skip or pause. Not sure if it's due to the data transfer rate, or just lag on my phone's end.

Does it automatically connect and play every time you get in the car? Or do you have to manually interface with the phone?

How is the sound quality?

There are dozens of 30pin/usb Bluetooth adapters out there. I can't believe we finally found one that works with Infiniti cars.

It has connect automatically every time, so far. The sound quality is on par with other vehicles I've had Bluetooth streaming in. I haven't noticed a quality difference, despite the conversion that is happening. My main issue so far is the slight lag, and occasional stuttering. Sometimes I have no stuttering/lag, other times I've had to restart a song and it seems to it "catch up".

It'd be nice if there were a few more options out there to see if some have zero lag, but I haven't found anything yet. The people at Frys and BestBuy told me no they never even heard of a device that would work, so I'm guessing it's a pretty niche product.

Can you stream saved audio from the device (MP3) instead of streaming streaming-audio. If that makes sense

I'm essentially trying to rule out an internet connection, and focus on the BT connection only between devices. If you play only MP3, then those are on the phone itself. If you're streaming from Pandora, I Heart Radio, or other online source, then there's a chance it could be an issue with them or the network.

It makes sense! Spotify has a cool feature where you can actually download all the tracks in your playlist and listen to them "offline", so I think it's an issue with BT connection. I forgot what forum (since I've looked at so many) I read about the issue on, but it seems like there is an issue during the conversion process anytime a device like this is used. People were having issues when using this on home theater setups because the lips were not matching the talking. But since I'm not watching any video, the minimal lag is fine by me.

The new Android update (5.0) was supposed to finally support audio streaming over usb, but it still doesn't work for me. I suppose the easiest thing would be to get an iPhone, but my sheer dislike of anything Apple won't allow me to do so

I've been using this device for about a week. It does work but it's not great. My music stutters every few seconds. It connects every time but mine won't play automatically. It does allow you to skip tracks with the steering wheel controls though. There is a delay but I'm not sure why it continues to stutter while playing. Better than nothing I suppose.

I'm using an iPhone 6.

Glad to hear it's working somewhat at least. I have the stuttering issue at times - I've found if I stop the song, and restart it, it works fine. It is annoying though to have to mess around with it. I miss the ease Ford Sync in my wife's car, but like you said, it's better than nothing.

Just wanted to chime and confirm this works with my 13 non-nav too. My SGS3 works pretty well, there is definitely lag which is not from my device, I stream to other bluetooth speakers without that problem. The music will stutter intermittently, I think trying to catch up the lag, Sometimes its worse than others. Also my phone (SGS3) will connect to both the music adapter and the car bluetooth giving both phone and audio at the same time, sometimes it connects to one or the other. Skip and previous track buttons and steering wheel toggle work for me with, poweramp, amazon music and spotify. I am happy with the solution its a good option for non-nav, non-idevice users to stream and use controls.

Doesn't the vehicle's BT interface already support the audio streaming function? Or is this only found in nav equipped models (which the OP's is not) ?
