Blue screen of death

Back up camera no longer works, blue screen. Sonar or 360 camera doesn’t work either. Had Infiniti scan my vehicle and said a code popped up for the sonar module under the seat. My question is should I replace both the sonar module and the camera module and if I do, does it have to be calibrated by the dealership or is it plug and play? 2015 year.

Is the screen completely "blue" or do you get the grid lines when the car is put into reverse?

What specific car, 2015... M or Q? The G37 never came with the 360° AVM system.

However, if you are getting the grid lines but no image then the control module is likely ok. The issue then points to the camera. What was the code?

Check the trunk wiring harness for any kinks/ breaks in the wiring harness. There have been several incidences over the years where the wires in the flex boot would break due to the repeated "flexing" (opening/ closing) of the deck lid. The wires for the camera pass through this same flex boot. This thread will show you what to look for (see posts #4 & #24 therein).

Edited to add: As OP has a Q70 with the AVM system, camera images are handled entirely different than on the G37's.

The code is U1000

yes it is a Q model QX70. Thanks for the help. Even with that code I shouldn’t worry about the control module?

I edited my post above. As you have a Q70, which has the 360° AVM system, camera image processing is handled entirely different than on the G37. Camera images (from all 4- angles) are processed through the AVM control module to the center display:

Given that you have a U1000 code likely means that, in this case, the control module is the issue and not the wiring/ flex boot that I indicated above.

The module should be "plug-and-play." In rare circumstances, you might have to get the steering angle sensor re-calibrated which is a simple procedure but it does require a trip to either the dealer or a reputable alignment/ tire shop.

Did you check all of your fuses? Being that the AVM and the SONAR modules are on the same circuit, it stands to reason that might be the culprit? (Fuse #3, Left Driver Footwell- Elec Parts- IGN). Worth a shot...

wow thank you. You’ve been really helpful. I didn’t check the fuses but I will check them later tonight.

I put the nav in diagnostics mode and all the systems are green. Would this still indicate the control module is still bad even though the system is showing it green? See attached photo. Front display and switches is also green. It’s just cut off in the photo. Thanks!

"Control Unit," in your pic above, refers to the AV headunit in the center stack, NOT the AVM or SONAR control unit(s). There should be a separate screen for those systems:

The U1000 code indicates that the respective modules have lost network communication (CANBUS) with the rest of the car. If you do not have the above screen, then you have two (2) possibilities: bad module(s) or a wiring issue in the harness assuming power and ground are good.

so it looks like there is a “next” button on the bottom which I don’t have. This leads me to believe it is the module. Besides the sonar module which other module should I replace? The camera module?

SONAR (p/n: 28532-xxxxx) and AVM (p/n: 284A1-xxxxx). The last 5-digits of the part number will be specific to your car. See below.

However, I can potentially see one module failing, but the odds of both failing at the same time... No, I am not a fan of coincidences... there has to be a common element/ cause. I would first check the fuses. Then, check the modules to make sure there are no signs of damage. Unplug the connectors and check for corrosion/ water. A local G37 buddy had a whole gallon of windshield cleaner spill in his trunk that somehow saturated the XM and TEL modules. Stranger things can happen.

Plus, when you check the individual modules, this will allow you to copy the part numbers exactly so you can match accordingly when looking for replacements.
