Programming Intelligent Key Without Specialized Tools

Hi!
I've had a spare intelligent key I've been meaning to get programmed forever, but kept putting it off due to the quotes I got from dealerships.

Well a couple months ago I learned about NDSIII which claimed to be able to program Intelligent Keys.

I figured I'd give it a try, and I'm just here to report that I can confirm NDSIII can program Intelligent Keys. I've successfully programmed my 2011 G37's intelligent key using it.

A much cheaper option than going to a dealer.

Excellent post, thanks for sharing!
What cable did you use and where did you get it?

I bought this exact cable from ebay
Since these ebay listings pop in and out all the time, it's described as a "VAG-K + CAN Commander V1.4"

Forgive my crudeness, but is this (likely) a CONSULT-3 knockoff? ie. can we perform CONSULT level disgnostic/repair functions with this (besides key programming) or is it glamorized code reader software (based on your experience)?

If we can perform advanced diagnostic and repairs with this then... I'm in. Sure beats $500-5000 for the real CONSULT system.

The cable/adapter itself seems pretty simple (just shows up as a USB serial device).
But I haven't dug into the other features of NDSIII at all, there's a full list here https://nisscan.com/NDSIII/index.php...nsultfunctions
Seems like it's capable of a bit, just not anything I'm interested in (outside of key programming)

Either way, thanks for the information/link. Just browsing some of the features I'm sure some members will be interested in the ENGINE IDLE ADJUSTMENT.

Thanks again!
