USB connection error

I have a 2013 G37X. I want to listen to my I pod through the USB port inside the center consol. Every time that I connect my original iPod to the USB port the media will read that a device is connected, but once I go and click on a song file the connects gets lost and gives me an error message toggling back and forth before connecting and not connected. This overrides all other functions and I am unable to do anything at this point while the iPod is connected. I had a new USB port installed and I still get the same error message. I do not know what else to do to get the iPod to play through the car. Does anyone know how to correct this problem or a solution to play my iPod? Thank you.

Do you have another cable or iPod you could test to make sure it's not an issue with yours?

Yes, I have tested my iPod and cord in other vehicles and it works fine. I have taken other peoples iPod and plugged it into my car and get the same error message. When I first purchased my G37x it worked just fine. This problem has only been as of recently.
