2013 G37 USB Connection

Hey, I just bought a 2013 that does not have the navigation package. It does have a USB connection, but when I tried to plug in my iPhone... AUX only shows ipod "No Song". Does it really only work with an ipod? Will it not work with an iphone?

The USB connection works with the iPhone as well. Make sure your cable is connected correctly and that there are no tears in the cable you are using. If this doesn't work, try restarting your iPhone. Also, if you want to use something like Spotify, you will first have to play a song from your iPhone's library then you can select a song off Spotify using the iPhone. This is how it works for me.

Thanks for the help. Downloaded one song and fixed it on Apple Music. Pandora and all functions again.

I don't have a iphone so forgive me.

Why do you have to buy 1 song on apple music to get it to work?

Ya be glad lol. Idk why it makes it work but it does. I’ve been trouble shooting for 6 months.

Does your iPhone charge whilst plugged into the USB? Can you run Maps/Navigation on the phone as well? Perhaps would the following accessory work for both charging and using the lightning connector through USB to play the music?

Amazon Amazon

You don't have to buy a song to get it to work, you just have to have music on the phone's native player first. No idea as to why.

No need for that adapter, it charges and plays natively.

Does it charge enough if you are playing music and using navigation too?

It should, yes. I usually have Waze running in the background when I drive further than around town and it's never lower than where it started. I don't pay a ton of attention to my battery unless it's under 50% tho. I very rarely am actively using my navigation, if that makes sense. I just have it on to tell me, mainly, if there's any cops or crazy traffic.
