Installing Sub+Amp Questions

I've been looking on here and on youtube for a while to see how people connected their subs and amps to their cars, but I haven't been seeing much on how to approach this. What's the best way to go about doing this with the factory radio installed?

In a nutshell.. take line output from car stereo and feed it into an amp, from amp to the speakers that meet requirements of the amp.

tap into the front speaker preamp outs from the head unit at the amp connector in the trunk. use Posi-taps - make it very easy.

the front speakers are louder, rear speakers are just fill. you want the HU preamp out signal because the Bose amp will not have applied its crappy EQ to it.

and where should I get the power from To run to the amp? I was seeing people say that the factory amp doesn’t have enough power to turn on the amp

It doesn't. You will need to run a wire (gauge will depend on the wattage of the amp) from the battery to the amp. Be sure you use an appropriate fuse placed as close to the battery as you can.

Also, tapping into the front speakers (pre-amp) is a good method, but I found tapping the sub wires (before the sub amp) was better for me... for a couple reasons.

understood. Thank you, but I’m trying to avoid getting power directly from the battery. I’m not sure where I’d put the remote switch because I don’t want the speakers to be on when the car is off. You follow me?

You really won't have a choice. You need to get the power directly from the battery... unless the amp is only like 50 watts.

Here is a good guide that will show you what gauge power and ground wires you will need. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-B3dK5S...uge_chart.html

Some people have used pin #22 (for sedan at least) for the remote wire.

Yeah that’s right. sorry I confused myself, I was just stuck on the remote wire part. That’s why I made this thread I haven’t seen anyone post on where to connect the remote wire in their coupes.

If the wire from the factory amp will not turn on your amp, you just might have to run the remote wire to your fuse box.

There definitely is a thread on this. I know because that's where I got my info when I set mine up. I made all connections except power and ground to the existing amp in the trunk. Probably one of these:

Running into an issue

So I figured everything out, everything is connected and working except for one thing. No sound at all. I tapped into 23-26 and I’m getting no sound, however I’m getting power and everything. This is my third time trying and i cannot find a way to get sound. I even had a picture diagram to help guide me and still nothing. Anyone have any ideas?
