Speaker Issue
Speaker Issue
Hi Everybody,
I am new here. I bought my 2012 G37x sedan back in August and hadn't had any issues until just recently.
I'm a self professed gear head and my previous/other car is 2004 Mustang Gt. During my time that I was driving that car I was a member of a Mustang Community/Forum which I found to be very helpful in DIY car repair issues. With that being said I figure it's probably good to join a G37 community as well now lol.
So my issue is a very intermittent "flicking" or maybe crackling noise coming from one of the speakers (I think maybe in the front somewhere) that just started this afternoon.
A few things to note...
1) This may or may not be related but just this morning I hit an epic pothole. (You know the type that makes you cringe in pain and then curse really loud?)
2) When it first started I was on a call using the Bluetooth and while I was on the call I could hear a more constant crackling sound that I just attributed to perhaps the reception of the cell phone on the other end.
3) After I hung up the call I went on driving with the music on (not crazy loud or anything) and noticed very intermittently what sounded almost like the crackling sound a vinyl record player makes (I'm 28 so don't ask me how I know what that sounds like lol). I'm talking very intermittently maybe once every 20-30 seconds or something? But not regularly to the point where I can count it out.
4) I am super super conscious about not blasting music because I'm super paranoid of blowing the speakers.
5) I turned the volume down very low, just low enough that I could barely hear it and I don't think it did this cracking sound while the volume was low but perhaps it was just too quiet.
Any idea what would cause this? And obviously any suggestions on how to fix/ diagnose it would be very helpful. Thanks in advance everyone!

Play with your fader/balance control to try to isolate the crackle. Does it happen even when the car in not in motion. Could be a speaker connection or speaker itself (loose/damaged?).
