12v Optional Tap sources?

So I am planning on tapping into the Audio/mirror location with a low profile mini fuse tap for my radar detector.

However, I have a Ark throttle controller that I am about to install also and it states I can plug it into the cig lighter/power source or another 12v source to ignition.
Is there another location that I can tap into that everyone uses?

Dont really want it plugged into the cig lighter/power source would like to tap it and make it clean..

Thanks!

Maybe tap into the wires behind of the lighter?

Plus does anyone know of any other grounding locations in the cabin other than this one beneath the drivers side fuse box? In case I can reach the power source in the center hand rest location I dont see a grounding location close by it...

Remove the panel under the steering wheel. Lots of grounding points there.

If you really want to be lazy about it, just stick the 12v wire from the controller right into a cigarette lighter fuse, upgrade the fuse, and stick it back in. Then ground it. Not suggesting you do this but it does work.

The unit comes with a plug and play cig lighter end so I can just plug into the cig lighter or the power source in the arm rest.

I tried searching on the forum but I could not find a past thread with anyone tapping into anything other than the audio/mirror fuse location.

I wanted to tap into the fuse box under the steering wheel. I have already tapped into the audio/mirror location using this for the radar detector:

Just was looking to find out if there was another location people were tapping into in the fuse box...but I guess not.....

I tapped into the fuse for the 12v outlets in the fuse box. You can find a discussion about it here: https://www.myg37.com/forums/audio-v...d-circuit.html

^^
Thanks for the help...I will tap into the "outlet" 20A fuse location.
Replacing the original 20A on the lower portion of piggy back and a 10A on the upper portion for my piggy backed throttle controller.

UPDATE: Unfortunately the piggy backs size/width does not allow both the "audio" and "outlet" location to be tapped into.

In case anyone in the future comes across this thread it is noteworthy to mention a couple of things that I relearned and learned about piggy backs.
1. The bottom portion is for the original fuse...in the picture below the 20 is the original fuse.

2. The upper portion where the red line is attached is the location where the new fuse for the new device should be placed.

3. How you position the piggy back is argued to be important also. It should be positioned to where the red line points in the direction of the outflow of the electricity. I used a multi meter to confirm that the electricity flows in left and out right so the red tail should point in the direction of out like in the picture. The problem is that in this position the plastic cover and fuse cover simply don't fit. So you will need to reverse them in the incorrect direction. So what is the problem in the wrong direction? if the lower original fuse somehow blows the new circuit/device receives no power and hence you will need to replace the original fuse to reactivate your new device. No big deal....

Here are some cool videos:

Also for other new people to this car we do not use a "mini" fuse like most cars....
we use a "low profile mini fuse." Normal mini piggy back fuse holders do not work and none of the autoparts places around where I lived carried them so you will need to order them off ebay or amazon.

This is what I ordered:
Lumision FAST Shipping* ADD CIRCUIT BLADE STYLE APS ATT LOW PROFILE LP MINI FUSETAP FUSE TAP + 5AMP FUSE - - Amazon.com Lumision FAST Shipping* ADD CIRCUIT BLADE STYLE APS ATT LOW PROFILE LP MINI FUSETAP FUSE TAP + 5AMP FUSE - - Amazon.com

I got out my multi meter and found a location that is live only when the car is turned on ....not sure if it is a possible alternative to the audio location it carries no fuse so unsure if it needs to be an open location without a fuse?.... marked it below...
The problem is if you have two devices that you want to piggy back. The "Socket" and "Audio/mirror" locations are available but they are two close to one another and two piggy backs simply will not fit based on their width.

You can tap directly into the 12v wires under the center console. That's what I did for my 9500ci install.

Should be pretty obvious that the (bat) is constant. Any (ign) is ignition. So...

And you can ground to anything bare metal closest to your device/ switch.

Old thread but still pops up at the top of Google.
