2013 G37x tune questions
Hi guys. Yes I have searched like crazy but I can't find someone with my exact situation. I have installed the FI HFC's and a Stillen back exhaust and love it. What I do not like is the way my 7AT does the weird stuff everyone complains about with only 40k miles. I live in the ST. Louis area and finally found someone that seems like be worth my drive. He has a AWD dyno and I explained to him I am just as worried about transmission programming as the HP gains. I don't know if this is the way to go or if I should buy the equipment before the tune. He is saying 1 file. That does not sound like I can revert to stock ROM or do much of anything afterwards? Please let me know what you think.
His reply:
Yes, we do use Uprev to interface Infinity cars. Transmission support is a new thing with Uprev, they just changed ownership hands and are expanding their platform finally. Full tune done on the dyno for a single file will run $775 with full license and dyno fee. Once we plug into your car, we will know how much transmission tuning has been unlocked. Happy to set things up the way you want. Please let me know if you have any questions or if you want to set up a day to bring your car in.
Thanks, Jon

If you are thinking of purchainsing the UpRev Self Tune option, you would need to check with your tuner first.
Some tuners may still want to use their own licienseed version to keep you from messing with it and to safegusrd their parameters. Or they may PW lock your licesne so only they can get to the tune to make adjustments, forcing you to make a new ROM if you want to make changes.

if you have a basic understanding of how gas motors work, you could get this book and it will really help you understand how the ECU controls things: Engine Management: Advance Tuning https://a.co/d/iNQQNMH
Also Evans Academy is a great resource, although it is not free. And there is lots of good tuning advice on The370Z forum.
just a thought.

Any opinions on this? I have decided to use ecutek instead of uprev after reading most of your opinions on here which is greatly appreciated. I found a local shop in ST. Louis that is mostly super high end cars but said he could help. If am understanding correctly this will be a bluetooth dongle with 4 maps installed? Confused.
TUNER: Yes, I would be happy to help.
We can do a ecutek tune with programmable kit & dongle - there's no separate tune for the transmission but it can be change a little within the regular tune.
so with ecutek credits - program kit / dongle - tune - dyno - approx 1400

I did reply to his response and asked if I was going to end up with a dongle to hook up to a pc with 4 maps. After doing more digging it looks like the pc part of the equation is a thing of the past. I think me sounding like a noob is why I have not received a response.
Bluetooth and a smart phone app or tablet is the typical route. But a cabled connection, USB key and laptop are still a less expensive way to go for a remote tune.
If you found a local tuner, and comfortable he'll do right by you, with his own dyno, that's great. Nothing wrong with a leap of faith and not getting your hands dirty (digitally speaking).
Will your tune be worth $1400 to you?
Guess we'll see.

Thank you very much for your input. My gut feeling says yes. This place does supercars. I would imagine I should not name the shop but they are in Maryland Heights Missouri.
Thank you Rochester.

Highly recommend you research EcuTek and understand their product's before committing to any shops.
Their website has a find a tuner link that helps you find local shops licensed with EcuTek. Call a few to get an idea of pricing and options.
