Yesterday as I was on my 630 mile road trip between Michigan and Iowa, I encountered my HDD Navigation system blackout and reboot again. Is this normal? Has this happened to any of you guys?

Optionally, Is there a firmware update available? (Not the map update, I have done this already).

 

I just bought a 2013 G37S sedan and my Navigation system has started randomly crashing and rebooting. Sometimes it won't happen for a couple of days, and sometimes it happens every couple of minutes. There is a technical service bulletin that describes this issue and a software update to fix it. Your dealer should be able to install the update for you. Crappy for me is that the nearest Infiniti dealer is 2.5 hours away from me. The TSB# is NTB12-070/ITB12-054.

 

Call infiniti customer care and see of it's something a nissan dealer can do given your distance from an infiniti dealership

 

Yeah, I called the nearest Nissan dealer and they told me sorry, but no. Too bad really. They have the disks with the updated software as a bunch of Nissans have the exact same problem. They said they couldn't because of their need to bill Infiniti for the work. I was hoping I could find the software update disk online but found nothing. I called Clarion (the manufacturer of the nav system and the update disks) and they won't send me a disk since I'm not a dealer. Sigh. It really seems like something that Infiniti could update via the Sirius radio.

 

I thought you can DIY nav updates for 2010+ models? You just have to buy the discs?

As far as I know that only updates the maps, not the system software.

I had a similar problem and i solve it by replacing the AV unit HDD.
However, this is NOT an easy task.
