I'm in the process of putting together a custom .77 cubic foot 12.5 x 12.5 x 12.5 box (Single 10" Sealed Car Subwoofer 3/4" MDF Enclosure/Box 0.77 Cu Ft) with a JL 10" entry level 4 ohm sub and JX250/1 Amp (pic below shows the paper template I made to estimate footprint). Since I'm still waiting on a few items to arrive, I decided to disassemble the trunk today to see what I have to work with during the install. Based on the pics linked to below and in my DIY album, I'm a little worried. Where are you guys mounting the amp? The one I purchased is pretty heavy for its size, so it will need to be secured properly. I don't want to bolt it to the trunk floor or the seat back and the insides of the quarter panels do not reveal any spots where I could install all 4 screws, 2 maybe. Also, harness B41 looks tight. Are you guys that are using B41 for low level RCAs stripping 3-4 inches of the protective covering back to expose more wire? In the photo below, B41 is the harness that is shown unplugged (there are two, I believe I unplugged the right one, neither is labeled)

 

I have an amp on the left quarter panel area and another amp on the right quarter panel area.Two screws hold each of them pretty well; they have not budged. Regarding the b41 harness, I did strip back several inches of the protective sheathing. I installed the MS8 sound processor, so there was a bunch of wiring involved. There simply was not enough working space as is. After I finished, I re-wrapped everything with some good quality electrical tape.

Per the other thread, I'm thinking that these wire connectors may be the ticket: Posi-Products™ Wire Connectors 6 tap connectors for 16- to 18-gauge wire — tap into wire without cutting or stripping at Crutchfield.com

I believe the B41 harness is using 18 gauge wire.

 

You may be on to something about the 18 gauge number. That would explain why gsteigerwald used blue taps for his install (18-14ga) and other installs such as ATL_G's have used the red taps (22-18ga).

 

So the box I purchased -and described above- arrived today.

The good news is this thing could survive an F5 tornado; it's 3/4" MDF and well made, looking like it's worth far more than the $30ish dollars I paid with free shipping.

The bad news is that it's larger than I imagined, so I'm not feeling the OEM look I was hoping to achieve with what I thought was a smallish box.

Also, it's becoming tougher to find a shop that will install RCAs directly off the Bose amp. Many of them agree to it on the phone, but once you arrive they try to position an LOC and prefer the High Level outs coming from the head unit. I am still trying to educate them that everything in our Bose world is processed within the Amp and that there are no full frequency outputs coming off the head unit.
