Navi directions

My navigational directions do not cancel out the radio, therefore I have to listen intently to hear the directions over the music. I looked in the menu but could not find anything that is set incorrectly. Is anyone else experiencing this? Am I just stupid? Surely there is a setting off somewhere.

If you get into the settings for nav you can turn the volume for the beeps down and can disable or turn the volume all the way down for the voice prompts.

While the Navi is speaking and the radio is on, crank up the volume and the Navi volume will be set at that higher level.

I will give this a try...I figured when I raised the volume the radio would increase at the same rate as the Navi. Every navi that I have had (I can not longer drive anywhere different with out a gps!) always automatically cancels out the radio to give out the turn by turn.

The radio does not have to be on when you crank up the volume when the Navi is speaking (or when a weather alert is being made). With the radio being on, it gives you a base point how much louder you want the Navi to be. As you noticed, the radio is not cancelled out, it just gets talked over.
