2011 G37x sedan USB not working
Bought a 2011 G37x sedan without navigation a week ago. I need a little help figuring out how to utilize the USB port in the center console. Every time I plug a device into the port, I get a "Check Connected Device" error on the screen. Does anyone know what I should do in this scenario? I'd really like to play my music through the speakers since I have no bluetooth streaming in my car.
Devices I've tried connecting:
2GB Cruzer Flash Drive
Ipod Nano (3rd Gen)
iPod Touch (4th Gen)
Iphone 5s
All these devices give me the "Check Connected Device" message on the screen.

Furthermore, I notice that on my 2GB Verbatim flash drive, when I insert it, the light on the Verbatim flashes red rather than blue on my desktop and laptop. I suspect that indicates that there must be a connectivity problem I think.
It's me again. Look what I have just found from another thread:
"I found that you need to format it to FAT32, windows will not let you format a very big drive/stick what you need to do is just Google anything like formatting 128GB to fat32 or flash drive format to fat32 etc etc and follow the steps also I didn't loose any space on my flash drive meaning my flash drive was 128 GB and after I was done it was still the same oh after I was done I downloaded audio files and reinstall it in my car and boom success hopefully this make sense"

Me again - reformatting the flash drive to FAT32 did the trick. Actually FAT32 is the default format, but for some reason my flash drives were not in that format. If you read the poorly written G37 handbook, it does mention the need for FAT32, but it is buried deep in fine print.
Note that when you reformat, all data will be removed, so make sure you have the music files elsewhere.
Happy listening.

Ihtbeale - sorry I can't help you about the Apple thing as I do not use anything from Apple. Maybe someone else out there can help you with this one.
If you get the dreaded "Check Connected Device" message, that surely means that a connection has been established, and in fact I saw a "reading files" message before the "Check" message. Am I right in thinking that this indicates that there is nothing wrong with the port's connectivity but that the problem is on the flash drives?
