Clock lighting works when it feels like it

So my analog clock in my 09 g37 sedan flickers...stays off...stays on...the time works but the light is f'd up. Do I need a new clock? Loose wire? I've only had the car for 2 months and pre-owned dealer I got t from won't cover it for me

You probably need a new clock. I got mine replaced under warranty because the light kept flickering.

Ok and does anyone know where I can possibly get one? Do they only come in the white or do they come in that blue/purpleish color?

There are a few listed on eBay for around $100 but I've seen some on there much cheaper. I'm not sure I'd pay that much. It might be cheaper to buy the whole climate control panel and just scavenge the clock- that was the case when I needed the rear sonar switch. It was cheaper to buy the whole VDC/Trunk/Sonar switch assembly for $35 than just the Sonar switch at $60 (eBay pricing- go figure).

As for the color, I believe they are all same as far as the 37 series. The 35's were that hideous orange color. In the interim if you are adventurous you could open the clock and check things out- could be a loose pin on the wiring harness or something simple.

Same thing happened to me. I removed the clock and put power to it on my work bench, and both LED bulbs would flicker, which seemed weird to me that they would both be bad. The soldering on the back of these clocks are weak and I re soldered some parts of it, especially the caps in the rear. So far so good.

Mine has the dreaded flicker as well. Think47, do you have any pics of what you did? Or a procedures list?

I recently had my clock replaced under warranty also. The service dude said the clocks are notorious for crapping out.
