Jumpstarting Issues..

Hey folks!

I'm having some gnarly problems with my 2010 G37 Sedan. To start off I went on vacation for a week and when I got back my battery was dead. That much isn't strange, but what is weird is what happened next..

I tried jumping the car and instead of the car starting normally it started behaving erratically. Random lights starting flashing all over the place, specifically the analog clock light. Then the car parking lights turned on and finally the headlights turned on. All of this without me turning any lights on to begin with..

After a few more times trying to jump the car I gave up.

Has anyone seen any sort of behavior like this before? Thoughts on what it could be? My guess is something blew in the process, I need to get a new battery, or anything else really. Wanted to get some opinions before I drag my *** to the dealership in defeat.

Thanks!
Dan

actually, that IS strange - a 5yo car should not drain a battery in a week. a 25yo Porsche, sure, not not a newer Japanese car!

sounds like something went wrong in the jump starting procedure, or something is shorted.

Yea.. That's my line of thinking as well, but was hoping someone else has seen this behavior.

My 09' Civic went totally dead after 8 days, with all the sensors on our cars it isn't too surprising to me.

something is wrong then - that is not normal. security system and stereo settings memory and a clock should not cause enough parasitic drain to kill it that fast.

either your changing system wasn't working properly, your battery sucked, or you had a parasitic problem (glovebox light, under hood light, etc.)

The OEM battery is pretty decent but you need to check the cells & keep them topped off. My 07 G35 needed a new battery after 4 years and we replaced our 09 G37 battery about 8 months ago. 4-5 years seems pretty typical at least IME.
