2010 Navigation system in a 2008 g35

Has anyone ever changed the navigation system out of a younger model that has a HDD? I really don't like the idea of the stealership having to install the updates all the time so I was wondering since the 2010 model can be updated if you just order the disks, if the system could just be switched out so I would be able to install it instead.

There are plenty of threads on this topic. It can be done but it is not a simple plug-and-play operation. There are differences in wires and harnesses (which are very hard to get with parts) not to mention time consuming and potentially costly unless you get a great deal. Now being that you already have NAV it might be a easier swap- that I don't know. I'm doing the research and planning out my swap only because I want the better resolution screen for unmentionable reasons.

Just do a thorough search of the DIY threads and get the FSM's for your year AND the donor year. They offer tons of guidance and insight.
