NEED HELP/Back up sensors stopped working
So I have a 2010 G37S Coupe RWD 6MT
Yesterday I went to visit a friend in the hospital and if that wasn't bad enough the hospital only has valet parking. So I had the valet take it, who couldn't find reverse and i had to instruct him where it was. This is understandable because not every manual has reverse in the same place.
When I got into the car, I checked the gears (and the entire car) and backed up to a pole, which is when I realized the sensors didn't pick it up. I tried again against a car and nothing. Realizing I had no proof that they worked before I took off hoping it was just a cable that came undone and an easy fix.
This morning I when I left my garage, the back up sensors were working again. Last night, when I came home I pulled into my garage and put the car in reverse, no back up warning from the sensors.
So good news they are working, but it does make me feel nervous that at one point they weren't, maybe I wasn't close enough to the car or the pole was in a blind spot, but it didn't work in my garage last night.
So I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue or any ideas on what it could be. Is it the start having to have some part of the sensors replaced.
I apologize for the long winded explanation, but any help is appreciated to put my worries to rest.
Thank you

Im having the same problem.
Except mine has the blinking yellow light on the switch and when i go into reverse it wont even sense my friend standing right behind the sensors.
I have already gone through the screen diagnosis and everything seems to be fine. I was rear ended but i know the body shop will have no clue how to fix it if i bring it back.
I have a video so you can see what i mean.

Without a good scan tool to pull the codes from the sonar system, there is no way to know what the problem might be. A OBD2 scanner may or may not work- if it reads the K-Line, then maybe. It could be a bad wire, sensor, module, anything.
Per the FSM, there is no "at home/self-diagnosis" feature. The most you could do is check the wiring for any obvious problems. More than likely you have a bad sensor, but can not say for certainty- nor which one...

just got rear ended today at about 5-7mph. sensor button is flashing yellow since the impact. not a lot of damage or alignment issues just no functioning rear sonar for the moment.
