Lowest cost iPod for G?

Whats the lowest cost iPod for my 2011 G
that features ALL of these:

1) Pauses and Turns off automatically when I shut off engine.
2) Charges from the car.
3) 16GB or might settle for 8GB capacity.
4) I prefer that it does NOT use a physical hard drive inside the ipod. But let me know either way on this...

I've been using a usb stick (thumb drive) up until now, which works fine, but browsing songs is terrible with the usb stick.

I do not have NAV.

Please only reply if you have an iPod in your G and you can confirm it does ALL of the above in your own car.

I'm not a big ipod fan so I'm trying to get the lowest cost solution. Just want to dump my mp3s on it and leave it in the armrest until I want to add more mp3s

Thanks in advance everyone!

What's wrong with having a physical hard drive? I use my iPod (the first gen with a color screen) and just leave it and forget about it in my 2008 G37. It charges, shuts off, etc. with the exception that it has a hard drive and not flash memory.

I had an old ipod Touch that I bought used and then went to a Nano

They both met/meet your requirements. Check your local CL.

Thanks rks, I could give a 6th gen a try I guess... More than I wanted to spend.

Thanks too Takman - do you know which name/generation is yours?

Any other suggestions?

Just use a thumb drive. Its cheaper and you can still have a folder setup. Thats what I am doing now. My I-pod did not work properly in the car so I tried a drive and it works fine. The initial load up is a few seconds longer than recognizing the i-pod but thats no big deal...a drive would be cheaper than an I-pod, just sayin
