Galaxy S4 slow to connect bluetooth

Anyone having this problem, I'm not sure if its my Galaxy S4 or the the car but when I turn the car on it says connected to Galaxy phone but I cannot get to the bluetooth audio input, just cd and music box. After I while if I try it will work. Once its work it works fine but if I turn the car off and turn it back on, takes at least 5 minutes before I can play music via bluetooth again. Sometimes after I turn the car off and back on it says Galaxy phone disconnected. Any ideas?

that is because it is downloading your phonebook entries automatically every time you get into the car. it's normal.

The phone part for calling isnt the issue, the issue is the music streaming. It takes forever before I am even able to go to the bluetooth audio source on the stereo.

I have the same Damn issue! Drives me nuts. The phone connects then it takes what seems like forever for the audio to stream. I actually went and bought an Ipod and loaded all my music onto it since thats ready to use right when the car is started. I wish I knew how to fix this issue.

I fixed the problem by deleting, unpairing the phone and re-paring it as audio only. Works like a charm.

I know this is an old thread, but I was having this problem too. I found a better solution than linking the phone as "audio only". On the Bluetooth Settings screen, there is an option to automatically download phonebook. Simply turn this off and you will no longer have a 2+ minute delay to start Bluetooth audio.

Signed up to say this freakin' worked! Thank you so much!! After years of frustration, considering buying a new aftermarket radio for hundreds of $$, this finally worked.

To be more specific for people in the future, the exact location of this fix is: SETTING --> PHONE --> AUTO DOWNLOADED to OFF (it's enabled by default). And that's it! If you're anything like me, you'll connect/reconnect multiple times simply to rejoice lol!

Note: this works on the '13 G37 with BT/Navigation. Can't comment on other models.
