XM radio alerts

Ok so I just got my G this month, it only had 100 miles on it when I picked it up, and yet it looks like someone had set some kind of alerts on the XM radio. For example, I'm listening to the Grateful Dead channel, and all the sudden it pops up some message that some other artist (I can't remember who) has a song starting on channel XX. My Wife's 2011 EX35 has XM/Navigation and doesn't do this, so what gives? Does anyone know how I can make these alerts stop happening? It's quite annoying.

Infiniti offers a 3 month free XM trial with new cars. Included is the traffic and weather alerts, it could be one of those and you are hearing it well. There is a separate volume for alerts.

I am used to the weather alerts, they just show up on the screen and don't make any noise. The alerts I am referring to are for some artists on xm radio that I never told it I cared anything about one way or another.

Ah ... never heard those. I get a verbal alert (scares the crap out of me) for weather and traffic events (in my M). Never heard the music related stuff.

You know you can turn off the audible alerts, right? Go into settings and set it so it just shows them, rather than announcing them. Where I live we get high wind advisories all the time and it screams them out. They're for the coast, which is 15 miles away, but over a mountain so they're completely irrelevant anyway.

OP, check the menus and options. Even with low miles, there's a pretty good chance a salesman, lot guy or customer on a test drive was playing around and changed a setting to something ludicrous. Unfortunately, there isn't really a "reset to factory" button on the system that's universal - there are a couple in the menus, but each is for it's own sub-menu.
