Nav Update

Been searching to see if i could find an answer to my question with no luck. So I currently have an 08 g with nav. Recently saw some improvements on the nav display for 2010 like xm weather forecast, album cover for ipod display, and just a bit of tweaking in regard to the interface. Im aware the update entails purchasing from some website (forgot the name) and having it installed by the dealer. $150 is no chump change for something of this nature. My question is, will the update tweak the interface and give me such things as forecast etc? Or is it strictly a maps upgrade?

Should've searched harder, cuz I must've responded to this question at least 5 times now. No, map update will not change the interface. It is just a map update. The 2010 navigation is completely different. The screen and AV unit are new. Yes, you can make the swap to the 2010 if you got money and electronic skills. It takes some rewiring of the harness.

any idea what the dealer would charge to swap out the 2008 for the 2010 or later systems?

Most dealerships would not do it. If you can find one that will, you can expect to pay around 5-6k minimally.

Here's the better question. If they were willing to do it for $7000, are you willing to pay for it?
