Length of amplifier power cable for sedan

I need some assistance form sedan owners for a project. The quesiton I have is how long a cable is needed to reach from the battery to a trunk mounted amplifier in the V36 sedan? Unfortunately I don't have a sedan available to make the measurement myself. Thanks.

Is there a huge difference for 10 vs 15 ft cable? I'd assume you'll want at least 10 and 15 should be a safe length depending on which path you choose to route it through. If you can, just buy stranded copper from Home depot or something that is rated for outdoor use. The only thing that matters for DC power is resistance and the only two parameters that will affect power transmission are length and material. You shouldn't pay more than 1-2 per foot. Just make sure the cable is flexible enough for car use.

Thanks but it's not for me, I have a coupe. I have a customer that wants a custom amp power cable and I need to know the length to give him a quote. I just need to know from someone who's wired their own amp in a sedan how long the wire needs to be.

The shorter of the power wire in length = the better of the system it will be!

All I need to know is how long the power wire needs to be to reach from the battery to the trunk. That's all. It's not my system. I don't need design advice. I just need a number of how long to make this wire for a customer who is requesting a customized wire.

Thanks though.

J, will a rough measurement work? I'm not sure how you'll be routing it, but i can certainly take a rough measurement based on my ride.

I'll have it for you by tonight if you can wait that long.

Perfect. Within about 6 inches will work if you can get it that close. I should have just thought to ask you from the start.

Why don't you do what everyone does and just quote 15 feet? I hope you're not charging/paying more than $2/foot. Not like it matters for a couple of bucks. I dont think you have to know the length if you've never worked the car before. 15 is reasonable and def long enough. Just charge him for all of it. There's nothing unethical about that.
