door speakers on the G

Is there any benefit to replacing the stock door speakers on the G37 vert with aftermarket speakers if you are not going to upgrade any other part of the stock stereo? I have the upgraded factory sytem and dont want to get involved with upgrading the system but notice the factory door speakers sort of look really cheap and weak. Any suggestions?

If they just look weak, just change out the grills for a better look? In general, speaker specs and sound are matched to each other. Changing them ***** nilly has a good chance of making it sound worse. This sorta sucks when the surrounds for the speaker set you just bought cost $1500....

when speakers are made for OEMs, they aren't worried about what they look like. They are made to perform and of course, to be as cheap as possible. That said, speakers you buy are made to look nice and be as cheap as possible. Frequency ranges, mounting depth, impedance all have to be correctly matched and this would be difficult. However, if done right, I'm sure a set of aftermarket speakers could sound much better. Just don't expect a set of $50-$100 speakers to do it.
