Iphone 3G

Will there ever be a software update that will allow the Iphone 3G to work with our Ipod hookups?

My iPhone 3G works perfectly with the regular iPod cable. It does not charge though. To get it to charge you need to get one of several available adapters that allow it to charge as well as function. Software can't fix this issue.

Yeah, it works fine with the radio interface, just doesn't charge.

Can you charge an IPad with an IPhone charger plugged into the lighter?

"From what is said in the thread it appears that the dock connector on the new iPod uses pure USB charging whereas the original model used a hybrid USB/Firewire charging arrangement hence the accessories designed for the first gen iPods will no longer charge newer models. This means that there is NOT going to be a software update that will fix this, and many customers will find that their older speaker setups will NEVER work fully with their new iPods."

So no, there won't be a software update, it's a hardware issue.
