Anyone plan on getting this? I guess it's much cheaper than when I first heard about the upgrade back in 08, which was for about $180.

I was cracking up when I saw the pamphlet they sent me via mail. I forgot what it said verbatim, but it was something about 12% fuel savings and 21% carbon emissions reduction with the map upgrade. LOL.

 

LOL about the fuel savings. Maybe they mean because you will be taking a direct route with the map instead of randomly driving around and making turns until happen upon your destination by chance? That says a lot about what they assume about their customers' intelligence.

I'm guessing that price doesn't include installation, though. I've read the old models used to be upgradable with a DVD, but the new ones are dealer-serviceable only.

 

that's true, HD-based nav requires that the dealer perform the upgrade.

 

Yeah I laughed at that too. Especially since I only use my nav like 2% of the time anyway. So really I am saving 12% of 2% or .24%......nice!

Just has this update done and my home is still not listed, so to me the 100 for the upgrade and 50 bucks my dealer charged was a waste of money.

 

My G is over two years old now so I’m thinking about it. But I first need to find out what my own dealer’s charge above the $99 will be. I’m a steady customer there, so perhaps they'll just throw it in. Or is that just wishful thinking?

 

I thought the old nav screen has a lower resolution or am I mistaken?

 

You’re not mistaken, but I got the same $99 offer in the mail for my ’08; so I guess they’ll install the correct upgrade for your year.

 

Hi, I purchased the $99 Activation Code and my Dealer (CND) charged $118+T CND for the upgrade to my 2008 G37 Coupe S. The Navi showed 06-07, now it shows 08-09. I thought it would be 09-10. I called NAVTEQ and they said the release of the software was Dec 09 BUT the Navi for version 8.3 should read 09-10. I'm investigating further as the Dealer gave me the info on the software they loaded

PS - there is a definite upgrade when you voice "Destination Near By Places" but I've had the upgrade one day and got sent in a route circle (including Navi instructions to U-Turn when I followed their route) twice. The second one wasn't U-Turn but down and around the block back onto the regional street and direction I was on

Any other 2008 G37 that have upgrade Navi lately ?? Please advise. I will re-post once I find out more myself - another battle
