Yes, if it doesn't work with your OEM cable from Infiniti you should be able to put the aftermarket cable on and it should work fine.

BTW I've got the 120GB iPod video (not sure if that is a "classic" or just "video") and it works like a charm

Identifying iPod models

I don't think mine turns itself off after I power down the car. I've come back to the car hours later or the next day to find it still on -- although I probably haven't checked enough to know for sure. Let me ask, do you have the "lock switch" up at the top on locked or unlocked?
that's the one. i have it unlocked.

That's probably your best bet. Everyone I've heard who has one said the 7th gen works with no problems. Charges and turns off when it's supposed to. That oughta work with the OEM cable too.

I have the Ipod Classic 20GB 3rd Gen AKA Ipod Dock Connector. This works perfecty in my 09 G37. This is an older model made in 2003. It charges with the OEM cable and also shuts down. The only minor issue is that this model does not charge via the USB cable on the PC. It needs a wall charger (not the one with the wall to USB) or a firewire to dock connector to charge from the PC.

I don't have an iPod either, but seriously considering getting one. Just wish they had a cheaper one. Do I really need 160g @ $200+?

I'll probably end up buying one...damn tech!

ebay my friend. buy used. i did. how big you need is up to you. do you really need more than 16 or 30 GB of music in your car?

30GB should be over 7000 songs.

Yes, you do. Don't be a cheap ***.

Seriously, you can get one on craigslist for about $140. I chose to get a new one for about $205 + tx from Best Buy with coupons.

I did end up buying one. 160g just seems like overkill. I was a little disappointed it didn't play any videos from the ipod. Just plays the music but doesn't show the video on the screen.

Also, does anyone know how to get it to shuffle through the entire playlist? Do I have to do it from the ipod itself?

WTF, why does everyone say the classic works PERFECT which is the original question, if there is no video? Or is cdso a tool, with no video out settings turned on? I want to buy a 7th gen classic too but if there is no video then I don't..

I have a 5th gen ipod classic 30gb. I plugged it in with the usb cable in a 2010 G37, and keep getting 'check usb/memory' error. The usb cable is the one the ipod came with and works fine connecting it to a pc.

Do I need to so something else?
