aftermarket stereo system upgrade in an 08 g37 base
Hey guys,
I've done quite a bit of searching on the forums, and I've found a ton of information about adding a subwoofer to the bose equipped g37 models, but I have not seen much at all about adding a system to the base model g37s. I know that I would like to add a sub, and I am thinking I will probably want to put some components in the front. I have been looking at both JL and Image Dynamics for my upgrades. I do have a couple of questions though.
1. With the base stereo, will I have to add somehting like a cleansweep or a 360.1 to clean out the signal? I know the base system does not have any amps, so I would presume that the signal from the deck is not flat.
2. Does anyone know what the easiest direct replacement components would be for the base system? There probably aren't any, since up front I have an 8 and a tweeter. I guess I will just have to get an adapter for 6.5s.
3. Has anyone done a full install in a base G37? Is this something I could tackle DIY with limited experience? Upgrading the sub on the bose system looked like it would be a breeze, but I think a full install might be a bit more demanding.
Thanks so much guys, and have fun with your wives, husbands, and significant others today!

I put 6.5 componets in the front and 6x9 co axil in the rears all where infinity kappa cost was 500.00 for parts and labor The sound quality is much improved especially the highs. To install, the front door panel and back seats as well as all of the rear trim had to be removed. The installer had experience with our cars and it took him over 3 hours for the job.I will add a power amp next week to give the system a little extra punch.

Guys, any more info on what was done?
I was quoted at around 2-3k to re-do front doors and I said no-thanks.
Basically, I want a 3-way setup in front doors and I thinks it's doable for a lot less.
If you take a look, there is a placeholder for Bose speakers right next to door handle. I am wondering if you can fit a small mid-range speaker in there, then install mid-range woofer up front on good baffle boards, and some tweeters to replace current ones.
Has anyone tried something like this?
