Question Help with unknown wire

Does anyone have an idea what this wire/sensor is? It looks like a little circuit board. I'm guessing it is some sort of sensor. By the way, this is on an 09 G37 Sedan, with Navi and Premium. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Is that a LED on the circuit board? I'd guess something to do with illuminating buttons on the dash when you turn your lights on???? Was it hooked up to anything or hanging loose when you found it?

I don't think it is an LED. I am not working on the car. I have taken all of that out before when I installed some KP Technologies modules and I even have pictures of all that stuff out, and there is nothing in the pictures that look like that. I had everything out (Nav Screen, Hard Drive, A/C stuff, etc), and there is nothing like that visible in the pictures I have.

The shop that is working on it sent me that picture asking if I knew what it was and we are all at a loss.

It's hard to tell unless you can trace it to what the other end is connected to. Just by looking at it since there's no connector to that board and it looks like it bolts up against something I would guess it's either:
  • The GPS antenna? It would be attached to the underside of the center of the dash.
  • A ground point with a diode circuit to prevent reverse current.

Is there any copper contact around the center hole of that board? If so then I would say its the latter. If not and then may that hole is to attach it to the underside of the dash and it's the former. Just an educated guess.

Can you get a close-up of the board? What was it connected to? Looks almost like an LED like BradMan said.

Search for pics of SMD leds and see it's matches up.
