I have the iphone 3gs and i got the normal cable with the yellow white and red that goes in the center and connected the other end to the iphone not from the headphone input but from the bottom and just hit the aux button and it worked but the screen is black, and on the phone sometimes it says this is not ment to work with the iphone and tells me to press cancel or ok and nothing happens when i press both it just keeps playing the music, its annoying lol

heat is correct. I have the same vehicle, an iPhone, and the apple composite cable that charges and plays video/audio through the ports in the console. Works great, and BTW, of course you cannot control the phone thought porst, BUT to me, it's better than the native integration because (a) if you have a good mount, you have access to a much better interface, namely the native iPod interface, and most importantly, (b) you play any audio you want through the ports, such as Slacker or Pandora internet radio, which is what I mainly use mine for.

FYI, you can play slacker, pandora, orb, etc using the native ipod connector that comes with premium package in our cars.
