Adding backup camera w/o Navigation Unit

I know adding the nav is pointless (too much money and work) and I don't need the nav anyway (most of the time I know where I am going). How hard would it be to integrate the backup camera unit that comes with the nav to the non-nav units? Possible w/o adding the nav?

I had the same thought and asked the dealer who services my car. He said he would do it if he could but the factory back up camera can't be added by them.

Have seen others talk about it but as far as I know no one has done it.

The only thing is I like the fact that the factory one gives you the dimensions (lines and stuff) so that you know how close you are to something (car, wall, etc.).
