NO the cd player does not read DVDs it is either done through CF slot or directly to hard drive.

sounds like you are pretty sure of which method it is not, and not exactly sure on which one it is. How are you arriving at this?

Yep, that was me! I was the only one to pre-order it from them. I barely got to test drive the floor model that they recieved a week before the 1st batch of cars came in.

If your dealership is charging $120/hour for labor then there's a lot of room to work with pricing considering it likely takes about 15 minutes to install. If your vehicle is a lease then there's no reason why your dealer shouldn't install the software for you at no charge since they'll have an updated version of the Nav when it's time to turn in your lease. Most vehicles still use DVD navigation software so the cost HDD navigation shouldn't be passed along to the consumer especially since this reduced the likelihood of pirating.

But again, upgrading your Navi software after a year is pointless, I would wait at least 3 years before considering a software upgrade. Are there any additional functions with the new software or just new mapped areas?

my best friend works at JBA Infiniti in ellicot city MD, I asked him to find out for me and he will let me know exactley what they do.
