The signal coming from the head unit is a digital signal.
The cheapest and easiest route is the one that NAM suggests. If you get yourself a JL Audio 500/1 you will have NO problems with plenty of bass.

The signal coming from the headunit is not a digital signal. It is an analog line level signal that is perfectly suitable for input into an amplifier.
I spliced into the front left and right input wires. I have attached the wiring spec. I used wires 33,34,35,36. You can use wire 20 for a turn on signal. The amp is found under the drivers side panel in the trunk floor.
You do not need to use a high to low converter. Just splice RCA cables directly to these wires and use a crossover.

You would want a amp that supports low level signals, that way you dont need to get a hi-low converter. I believe stock headunit singals are low level, and the JL 500/1 supports that just fine.
Infact, i have the stock headunit, and stock Bose amp. I just added a jl 500/1 amp and a jl 10w6 sub, and i was all set. no extra little converter things.

Most amps support a low level (line) signal. It's a bigger issue finding one that needs high level input. Luckily we don't need that for our cars. Pretty much any amp will do fine. The JL amps are great though. The 500/1 is a really nice amp.
You can consider the wires going into the Bose amp to be similar to a "pre-amp output" that a typical aftermarket headunit would provide. It is actually really nice that this exists in such a convenient place in the G37.
I would highly recommend a level controller for a subwoofer. I used the JL Audio CL-RLC just before the amp. It is inexpensive and is fairly high quality. This will allow you to remotely control the level of your subwoofer depending on the type of music or who is the car. I typically turn bass down when I have passengers. I find level control to be a huge plus.
