Well I pretty much made up my mind that I am going to purchase a 09 G37S. Being cheap I will probably get a bare bone with only sport package even without the moon roof. My only concern is I need Ipod hookup but I don't know if it is an option that only available with premium package.

You can buy some cheap $15 thing to plug into the aux port & still play the Ipod

I personally have these for my iphone/ipod and it works great. I have a base model g37 as well and the center compartment has a little opening you can bring the cable out w/o being very visible. If you want to charge your phone at the same time get a usb cigarette charger and connect to the usb on that cable. Works perfectly!

So I guess the aux input can be selected via the radio controller which is standard on all cars. I just need to hook up my IPod to the aux input.

The Aux-Input is just an input. But, the Premium package's iPod direct hookup allows iPod playback and control through your car console and steering wheel controls.

anyone know if it's possible to add the ipod connector to a base car (not aux). is the head unit actually different?

Regarding adding an IPOD port to control it thru the radio control console...

I haven't seen a response yet on this post. Can someone research and see if it is possible? I have a 2009 G37 base.
