The only possible reason why this could be true would be .mp3 vs. .wav cd. I've never noticed this. The radio stations definitely play them a bit faster.
I noticed that the play speed of the CD playback in the car is slower than my laptops! Have you guys noticed this on yours?
Yes, this is very possible and likely. AFAIK this isn't a function of the CD player itself, but the DA converters and how fast they play the signal through the laptop or stereo.
For example, when I play music files that I have on my desktop, if I play it through windows media, it plays faster than it should be. But when I play it through my DJ software, it corrects the play speed and plays at the appropriate beats per minute. This stuff starts to go above my knowledge base, but I know that it is real
Is the song lower in pitch as well? If so, there is a problem with the playback sample rate. It would indicate something is wrong either with the software you're using to burn, or with the CD player in the car (although that's quite unlikely).
You should try burning audio discs with different software and see if that fixes the problem.

Better yet, you can try using a original cd to make sure your cd player is working or not... my 2c
