Jeez I post something up explaining my thoughts--wondering what other people thought--and all I get is a bunch of people either being sarcastic and/or complaining that they think I insulted them. For me there was no way that the nav package could be worth all that money when there are much cheaper alternatives that I actually like more, ignoring price; I was just wondering what exactly made other people make the opposite decision.
Voice Address Entry
Higher Resale Value
Integrated with stereo/phone etc
Traffic Information
No Wires / Clutter
It is alot more then a Tom Tom... But TomToms are for toyota corollas. This is a big boy car.

IMO, the Nav is worth it. I like have the touchscreen, voice commands, integration of everything into one, etc. Is the price high... Sure, but a convenience I was willing to pay for. Others may not and that's why it is an option. I had a 2005 G35 before getting the 37 and said the same thing you did... I regretted not getting it after a while.
soldier9599,
I have a Pathfinder SE that I have an aftermarket NAV for. It too is integrated into the dash however. I decided not to get the factory NAV in it because all of the other options were not worth it to me or my wife. My wife could care less about all the tech stuff and she primarily drives it. There were other things about that vehicle that moved us to buy it yet we still deemed a NAV system to be usefull. So I kinda see what you are saying. But the way that you phrased your post turned most of us off.

Uh? Where do you live?!? When I lived with my parents I used their Magellen for about 3 years and never took it off the windshield. I rarely even used to lock my car (it was an 89 cadillac eldorado) when I parked it on the street in my neighborhood; it was never stolen. I've never heard of anyone having theirs stolen. I rarely even use it anyway, mine just stays in the glove box till I need it.

URGH, did you even read what I wrote? I didn't insult anyone and I very much so took into consideration that it does more than just tell me where I'm going. If anything were to be considered insulting it would be your sarcasm. I don't any offense to it but nothing I said was intended to be insulting in any way.
It's all good though. Not everyone likes the NAV and some prefer an external NAV system. You didn't like the integrated NAV system so you didn't get it. No problems with that. Enjoy the car!
It was your wording bro. It seemed insulting to many that have the NAV system. You were basically calling people stupid for getting it. I read your other post though and you too said your wording could have been better.

wow a thread made to express ur opinion about the navi system which u dont even have
that's like saying why not save even more money than just $2200 by getting urself a civic? or accord? they're cars on 4 wheels that take u from point A to point B and also save u on gas
watever floats ur boat, like i always say....

+1 I couldnt have said it better. What are you trying to accomplish here? ALL OF US that got nav are well aware of the $200-300 plug and play sets available and we still got NAV. We were well aware of the price difference and the pros and cons of both and we still got NAV. We got what we got cause we wanted it. If you don't want it - don't get it. If you can save a buck or two on what you don't need - all the more power to you. You're thread is not news to anyone and I doubt you changed any nav user's thoughts on getting nav. Pretty pointless thread.
Personally I had zero need for the Nav. To get this car on my budget, a $2500 upgrade for Nav could not be justified considering I drive the same roads everyday, and when i do go somewhere different I know the roads back to front. Nav isn't really needed in my town, especially in the city. All I needed was the 6MT and Prem package, and love the kick plates too!
I do like it though, and if I had some extra cash I would have got the package, mainly for the camera to protect the car (my wife had an incident last weekend with her car and some concrete!!!). I also liked the ability to subscribe for live traffic, and the unit is pretty classy.

well said my friend!! also wanted to add
- better re-sale value
-looks better
-just to say i have it
-the screen is the size of my head
-i will eventually turn it in 2 a monitor for dvd with headrest screens( not for while im driving, only when im parked =0) )
-to say my IP with Graphite interior and NAVI is a great combo 2 have
-i dont have a mp3 player in the cup holder where my phone goes and
-i dont have a box in the window
-not to get pulled over for obstruction of view...
-so my car dont get broken in 2 for a $200 thingy...
