I never really understood why people get the Navigation package, really in any car at all for that matter. It costs $2200. I suppose that yes, it also comes with a built in MP3 player and a touch screen, but I still don't feel like that is worth it. I personally already have an MP3 player, but if you don't you can get one better than the one in the car for under $200 and plug it in to the auxilery RCA plugs with the right wires from Radio shack for a couple bucks. I bought a Tomtom for like $300 that is far better than any built in nav-system I have ever used (especially the one in my father's BMW, that one BLOWS, Mercedes makes much better ones but even those pale in comparison to the Tomtom). It also seems like most people (like Popular Mechanics magazine and CNet.com) agree that these third party nav systems are much better than the built in ones. That being said, you can get a navigation system and an mp3 player that are better than the $2200 nav package, for a total of about $500. I suppose some people like having it all built in, but extra devices really dont present any inconvenience at all to me. The MP3 goes in the cupholder and the nav on the windshield. In fact, I feel like having the seperate devices makes it even more convenient, I can easily bring them back and forth between other cars--plus now I have two different screens to display things rather than having to lose some functionality to display the maps. Even if I don't want to do that, I can just buy second or third ones for other cars and still cost less than the one for the G37! Also, the Tomtom is definitely loud enough to overcome even loud music. That leaves nothing but the touch screen, which the Tomtom comes with, and becomes essentially useless on the built in screen when you dont have a nav system, the buttons are more than suitable.
After such thoughts, I can't possibly understand why anyone would get the nav package other than because they don't really value money very much (either rich or stupid--no offense but I just can't see why else) and just decided that it at least doesn't cause harm to functionality and you could still buy the extra devices if you really wanted to have all the possible benefits. But what I have done, at least to me, is not only more for your money, but it is both cheaper and better overall.
Any thoughts from anyone? If you have the nav or not, whatever, I'm just wondering what went through other people's minds.

But yeah... The only reason I got is because I'm a ****ing rich azz son of a gun and don't have anything better to spend my money on. I typically carry anywhere from 8k to 10k in my pockets, I have a personal banker dedicated to each of my accounts, and I don't even work. Hell, I would have offered to pick up the tab for you but... You don't seem to like the fact that everything is integrated into one.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Japanese cars' nav systems though, so I could understand if they might be as good as something like a Tomtom, but at the same time, you can't even use it while driving, what the hell?
