Navigation System
When you take into account the actual cost of the Navi at resale, it's not too bad.
Almost everyone I know with a Nuvi or TomTom has had it stolen at least once. Myself included. Had a Nuvi 660 for about a month in my S2000. Pulled in for gas. Ran in for a quick gatorade, came out and it was gone. Who wants to hassle with popping it off the windshield and concealing or taking with everytime you leave the car? No thanks. If it's available, it's integrated for me.

Welcome. It's generally not a good idea to come to a forum where you're new and insult people who have different spending ability and tastes than your own by calling them stupid because they value different things than you do. FYI, the navigation package has a number of useful features. Maybe not to you, but to us "stupid" people with $2K to spend on our cars for convenience.
I like the integrated screen with multiple functionality rather than multiple tacky cords hanging from my windshield.
I like XM.
I like XM traffic.
I like th 9 GB music hard drive even though I own several mp3 players.
I like voice control of my navigation (and many other features of the car).
I like having a rear view monitor.

Navigation Package
- - Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System[2] with touch-screen, Lane Guidance and 3-D building graphics
- - XM NavTraffic® providing Real-Time Traffic[3] information
- - 9.3GB Music Box hard drive and compact flash slot for playing MP3 files
- - Single CD player replaces 6-disc CD autochanger
- - Infiniti Voice Recognition for climate control, audio and navigation systems
- - RearView Monitor[4]

I took all of that into consideration and I was just saying that by getting third party systems I could get all that functionality for much less money. Of course people have different preferences; I'm sure many people think my setup is too clunky and that it's ugly, but I at least find it easier to use because it alleviates the screen from multitasking issues by splitting it up on multiple screens--just like how many people use two monitor with their computer. I suppose that is a minute benefit, the multitasking is very managable, but I feel like having multiple screens in this situation does not make things at all clunkier for me. I suppose I tend to prefer to disintegrate things and make them appear to be over-complicated if that results in further organization--even if it appears less organized to others. Also, I did forget about the RearView Monitor. I suppose that would add to the benefit and make it more sensible for someone to get the package if they were already more attracted to the package as compared to what I did.

I can
+1 ... why buy a luxury car if your going to pinch pennies... you shouldve bought an altima or a Hyandia Genisis
+1234 .... why buy a luxury car if your going to pinch pennies... you shouldve bought an altima or a Hyandia Genisis ... repeated cause it was that important

On the real tho... welcome to the forum... you wont be the only penny pincher on the board so Welcome and Congrats !
What is so bad about "pinching pennies." Am I stupid for doing something that I have decided is to me the most worthwhile thing to do? I bought an Infiniti because the extra price of the car was worth the benefits, but the extra price of a navigation system wasn't. Just because I decide extra money is worth it in one decision it doesn't mean I should just pretend it is for every other decision I make.

+1^^
It's cool if you don't like the NAV system but insulting other people that do like the all in one system is not cool at all. The NAV does more than just tell you where you're going.
I also don't like the fact that you can't use it while the car is in motion but that is becoming more common because of liability issues in most luxury vehicles. Yes, there is a work-around but that's another conversation offline. The convenience works for many that do have this option. I don't like tacky extra setups mounted on my windshield or anywhere else on the vehicle.
Props to you and your TomTom! I hope you two are very happy together and I'm sorry I missed the nuptials. I'm assuming there was a huge celebration afterwards, given all the money you saved on not getting the NAV.
Peace !
p.s.
