Navigation System
Welcome. It's generally not a good idea to come to a forum where you're new and insult people who have different spending ability and tastes than your own by calling them stupid because they value different things than you do. FYI, the navigation package has a number of useful features. Maybe not to you, but to us "stupid" people with $2K to spend on our cars for convenience.
I like the integrated screen with multiple functionality rather than multiple tacky cords hanging from my windshield.
I like XM.
I like XM traffic.
I like th 9 GB music hard drive even though I own several mp3 players.
I like voice control of my navigation (and many other features of the car).
I like having a rear view monitor.

Navigation Package
- - Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System[2] with touch-screen, Lane Guidance and 3-D building graphics
- - XM NavTraffic® providing Real-Time Traffic[3] information
- - 9.3GB Music Box hard drive and compact flash slot for playing MP3 files
- - Single CD player replaces 6-disc CD autochanger
- - Infiniti Voice Recognition for climate control, audio and navigation systems
- - RearView Monitor[4]
That's quite a bit of justification just to decide you don't want something.
My list for wanting is pretty simple:
1. Integration (i like seeing all my info [climate control, radio station, MPG, Navigation, etc...on one screen])
2. Voice activation (climate control, audio and navi)
3. XM Traffic
4. Recessed into dash which helps with sun glare
5. I don't like objects on my windshield
6. Rear view cam (I admit...this is more of a toy)
7. 7" Screen (a seven inch screen on my windshield would be a problem)
Worth 1.8k? For me...yes.

I got the Nav because I love the integration of having it built into the car. I don't like a bunch of things stuck to my windshield or wires hanging everywhere interfering with my view of a beautifully designed interior.

-i dont have a mp3 player in the cup holder where my phone goes and
-i dont have a box in the window
-not to get pulled over for obstruction of view...
-so my car dont get broken in 2 for a $200 thingy...

+1^^
It's cool if you don't like the NAV system but insulting other people that do like the all in one system is not cool at all. The NAV does more than just tell you where you're going.
I also don't like the fact that you can't use it while the car is in motion but that is becoming more common because of liability issues in most luxury vehicles. Yes, there is a work-around but that's another conversation offline. The convenience works for many that do have this option. I don't like tacky extra setups mounted on my windshield or anywhere else on the vehicle.
Props to you and your TomTom! I hope you two are very happy together and I'm sorry I missed the nuptials. I'm assuming there was a huge celebration afterwards, given all the money you saved on not getting the NAV.
Peace !

p.s.
Welcome to the forums.

count me as one of the stupid people that don't value their money. i absolutely love my navi and use it all the time. i love the integration and the fact i don't have to take it down and put it in my glovebox each time so people don't smash my windows to grab it. the navi performs just as well, if not better than my Garmin Nuvi so yea, i am stupid i guess.

Did I mention I like my navi?

Buyer's remorse?
