GPS Update(s)

So I searched and searched. I can not seem to find an update for out GPS (gps version is 2006). Zenrin doesnt seem to have anything as far as an update is concerned.

Anyone know if there is something out there?

Not sure what you mean when you say that your gps version is 2006. My map version (Info=>Navigation Version) is '07-08YEAR' and I picked up the car around Thanksgiving of last year. My dealer told me that this was the most current map data and an update wouldn't be available until fall/winter of this year, which matches what Zenrin says on their website.

Zenrin's site also says that the latest maps were released on 10/2007 (version 7.3): http://www.zenrin.com/infiniti/DVD7/. The G37 isn't listed as one of the cars for Infiniti and it only shows coverage for the G35 up to 2006 but I assume it's the same version; the same 7.3 version is also the latest for the 350Z on the Nissan side and includes the 2008 model year.

In any case, your map data should be newer than 2006 if you have the most current data set. So if the map version shown in your Info display isn't '07-08YEAR' then you should probably talk to your dealer and see about getting your nav maps updated if you want to be up to date. You can buy the update DVD directly from the Zenrin site but it's going for $190 plus s/h and tax (CA only) so it's worth it to see if the dealer will throw it in or at least give you a better price.

I think our system is HDD based so the DVD update won't work, no? I heard the dealer say they have to get a special tool (Upload device or PC I assume) to update the nav. According to them that's what the Port used to downgrade the voice recognition system.

You're right, that was a total braincramp - the G37 doesn't even have a DVD drive . I also remember my dealer talking about a special interface to get updated maps onto the hard drive and there was also some speculation on this forum about the CF slot possibly being used. I assume the map data is still similar/same but obviously you wouldn't be able to use the DVD to read or update the maps. Thanks for the correction, sorry for the misinformation.
