Im loving the possiblities also as my goal was the most bass but keep as much trunk as possible. Before I was toying with 1 w7 or 1 soloX.

I would love to be able to stick 2 of these Tw5s in the front doors... I just dunno how long I can wait for these... may have to slap a small temp sub in the trunk....
if i do a w5 it would be one 12" I am not looking to install to speakers as i want to keep the weight down....

id say close... the weights are not yet posted... but if you look at RF 12s , the regular version and the shallow mount... the shallow one is half the normal ones weight... so... I can imagine these tw5s are a great choice for people not wanting to add alot of wieght...

I am skeptical about the quality of these subs. Depth mount has been an issue for years. If nobody has come up with flat subs is for a reason. My guess is that even though they look great and can be mounted in places where a regular sub will not fit, the sound qulaity and power handling are going to get compromised. I would have to listen to them first.

JL is absolutely great, I'm jus more of an Alpine guy. Any Suggestions as to what can be done? I've never done an audio upgrade to any car and the ideal sound would be loud and clear, bass is ok but mos def not the trunk rattling kind, Loud and clear sound is what I'd like?? Wha can I do to acheive this goal (by loud, I mean 2 blocks down in nyc...)

I see output being the compromise. sound quality can still be there, but you will not get the same output as a W7 or 6. The motor structure will limit it's X-max and there fore spl. But that doesn't mean they wouldn't sound good at respectable output levels. My guess is people who don't really have space will love them, but people who have space but don't want to give it up, will be more willing to stick with one W7. IMHO Time will tell thoough.

They might, but i doubt it. Plus the speaker would not work properly, unless designed as an infinite baffle sub.

JL said this when they first released the info. "Its going to sound like the w6 but have the output of a w3." They also said this if for people who dont have alot of room. Thats why they designed it. Which would be US! we dont not have alot of room to work with... if you want to keep your trunk...semi usable... 2 of these will take less space than the same w7.

and I say again... this is not a Free air version sub.
