Kream, did you start with the SOW system? Where did you put the amps?

I have my JL 500/5 mounted behind the rear seat in the trunk and the 300/2 mounted where the Bose amp used to be. Do you run a similar configuration?

It looks like nobody is complaining about the head unit and replacing the original speakers shouldn't be a problem except for maybe that center speaker in the dash.

Equalization might be a problem since I don't want flat sound but a trunk mounted equalizer might work. Once I get the sound set up, I usually don't mess with it. I heard the Bose head unit is "configured" for the G37. Is that a real problem equalization wise? Seems it might actually help, true?

Just checked out that 3Sixty.2.

That just might be the answer. Upgrade the speakers and amps and use the 3Sixty.2 to control the sound. Head unit problems solved and controls retained.

Now, should I harvest my current system or start over? Time for estimates to put the original unit back in the G35.

Damn! Just got my G35 paid for and here I go again.

I did not have the SOW system. Just the standard non-Bose. My JL 450/4 is mounted behind the rear seat trunk. The JL 500/1 is mounted on the back of the sub enclosure. I really need to use some free time and build an amp-rack.

I believe your Bose unit has a factory decoder, so I don't know if the oem integration is necessary. You may have to ask someone with a Bose system. With aftermarket I wouldn't trust the Bose equalization to be optimal. They tend to curve a lot of mids.

I guess not having the SOW makes things a little easier.

Some of this depends on the deal I cut for the G37 but right now it looks like I'll use my MB Quarts (dynamatted like my g35), the JL amps and the Bose head unit. I'll run the head unit into a 3sixty.2 to flatten and adjust the curve and then out to the JLs. If the JL sub enclosure from the G35 fits, I'll use that. It sounded awesome in the G35 and if the 3sixty.2 works like the reviews say, it should be awesome in the G37.

Thanks to all for the input, especially Kream. Seems we have the same taste in audio equipment. Except for Focal vs. MB Quart. LOL!

Morel Supremos are nice. I narrowed my selection down to Boston, Morel, and Focal. But I got an offer I couldn't refuse.
Ah because the AC product you want is the DQL8

The head unit is a Pioneer Premier with all the bells and whistles.

It's a better system than most folks have at home but, again, I spend a LOT of time traveling and I like my music so it's worth it to me. I guess I have about $3 - $4K invested including the install costs and the Japan spec console replacement needed to install the after market head unit.

As for losing the steering wheel controls, I had an adapter put in my G35 that allowed me to keep almost all of the functionality. I forget the name of the unit, though.

I haven't been able to find any specs on the SOW Bose system. Does anybody know where to find them? I'd especially like to know if the speakers are the same paper crap that I took out of the G35.
I am in the middle of a system upgrade, and yes, you get the same paper crap as in your G35. I would say keep the stock head unit on the G37 for now, get a line output converter (if your JL amps do not have one) and keep your amps. I think you will be happy with the sound of the stock head unit since it has very good processing (Burr-Brown DSPs with the premium package). The front speakers (exept the tweeter) from the G35 will not fit the G37. I have not heard anything about subs, are you going subless? On my G37 I have the Hybrid Audio Technologies Legatia L831 3-way active speaker system, check them out! You can probably go subless with these, at least to start.

There is another member here that has a very nice setup in progress, his ID is dillyyo. He has some nice Dynaudios for subs in an infinite baffle setup and I think he may be using the same amps you have. Here is the thread:

https://www.myg37.com/forums/audio-video-and-electronics/185043-a-pair-of-12s-ib-in-a-g37.html

He is a pretty cool guy and you could ask him questions too. In the thread you will also see some pictures of my setup in progress, of course, it is much more advanced now... (pictures of the whole thing coming soon)

For now I say store your Pioneer head unit, get a LOC if you need one, keep your amps, lose the MB Quarts, lose the rear speakers and get some decent speakers for the front. I could elaborate a lot more, but I do not know what you want to do.

Too late, my friend.

I'm running the Alpine PDX 600 and 150 x 4, Dynaudio 362s front and MB Quart Qs rear. JL 10W6 in the 4080 box. Kept the head unit using an RF 360.2 processor.

Sounds nice!

Still have the G35 stuff if anybody's interested.

Nice! I considered the 360.2 before making my DSP purchase, but I ended up wih the Alpine PXA-H701.

I am glad your system sounds nice. That is the whole idea, right? Have you tried fading the rears to 0? It should improve your imaging. Are you using the time alignment feature of the 360.2? I chose the PXA because I can do time alignment, equalization and level matching per channel on each of my 8 channels! (highs, mids, mid bass, and subs. No rear speakers) That is going to take a long time to setup properly, even with an RTA tuner.

Enjoy
