Looking for opinions on the high end (11 speaker Bose) sound system in the G37S. I replaced the Blows system in my 04 coupe with a top of the line JL/MB Quart/Pioneer system and am SERIOUSLY disappionted with the system I heard test driving the G37S. WTF? I thought they were serious about music.
Am I the only critic of the "2 speaker stereo" insanity? Did I hear that Infiniti said :
"All the engineers told me we should go 5.1-channel DVD for a source, but two-channel CD is still the gold standard from a listening experience point of view, so I searched and searched for a source."
Where do we find such stupidity?
It's no wonder we're becoming a third world country.

The SOW is better than the 04 BOSE, but definitely not as decent aftermarket components. I'm no audiophile so it sound and works great for my needs. What are you expecting from a stock sound system? BOSE is a joke when it comes to sound quality in cars, but they do a great job marketing it don't they?

I noticed the Focal equipment in Kream's option list. Can I get some more info on that sound system please? Is it just a speaker replacement upgrade?
I spend a lot of time on the road for work and have always installed high end sound systems in my vehicles. The design of the G37 console makes me think that upgrading the factory sound system would be expensive and hard to do.
Any ideas on what it would take to put a good after market sound system in a G37? I'll be that just replacing the speakers would be a huge improvement.
I read some of the stereo related threads but didn't find much helpful info there.

What were you looking for exactly? The head unit in the G seems to be pretty good so I would recommend replacing the speakers if you are not a Bose fan. There is another forum member on here that replaced his speakers with some kick@$$ ones but he paid a bit for the quality. From his post it seems to rock for him. Replacing the head unit shouldn't be a problem BUT you will lose a lot of functionality like steering wheel controls and such.

What I'm looking for is something equivilent to what I have in my G35. It's got 150 watts RMS on the front speakers, 100 on the rears and 25 on the rear deck. The 10" JL sub in the trunk has 250 watts. Power comes from a pair of JL Audio amps. Speakers are two sets of MB Quart Q series and a pair of Quart triaxials in the deck. The head unit is a Pioneer Premier with all the bells and whistles.
It's a better system than most folks have at home but, again, I spend a LOT of time traveling and I like my music so it's worth it to me. I guess I have about $3 - $4K invested including the install costs and the Japan spec console replacement needed to install the after market head unit.
As for losing the steering wheel controls, I had an adapter put in my G35 that allowed me to keep almost all of the functionality. I forget the name of the unit, though.
I haven't been able to find any specs on the SOW Bose system. Does anybody know where to find them? I'd especially like to know if the speakers are the same paper crap that I took out of the G35.

Focal K2P 6.5" running @ 150w rms. Please make sure you dynomat the hell out of the doors when you using high end speakers. The K2P tweeters and other high end tweeters are very sensitive. Make sure they are properly angled on axis. The mid bass on the k2p is sick!
Cheap Focal A1 6x9 in the rear @ 75w rms. Just to fill up the car. I usually can't hear the rear.
Speakers are powered by 450/4 JL amp.
I have 2 10w3 enclosed in a rockbox and powered by 500/1 JL amp. Trunk is dynomat as well.
Red top and kinetik 600 installed for power/back.
The amp is connected to a JL Cleansweep, which basically equalize all frequency to flat from the factory head. I believe there are other cheaper options such as AudioControl and Memphis DQ. But I'm a big JL junkie, just not their speakers

The system is absolutely amazing. I've received a lot of positive comments in the streets about my system. Most of them ask if it was the factory system lol.
There is a little bit of static noise coming from the speakers when the music is off. I noticed before I had the system installed there was a little high pitch noise. Now the noise is louder but no longer high pitch. But I don't mind since I usually do have music on. On 2-3 level, I can't hear the noise at all.
Sometimes I wish I had an equalizer for my system. I was thinking about slipping it in the glove box or the center console box. Oh well. I'm on the road a lot (8800 since September 24) and I'm happy with my investment.
The models used by Audio Control for OEM integration are more expensive than the Cleansweep. Rear speakers generally ruin the sound stage in a vehicle.
Personally, I really like the Morel speakers I have in my truck, but I can't wait to hear the Macrom's I got for the G. To be completely honest I have been really impressed by Pioneer Premier PRS's, they're a great bang for the buck.

Has anyone noticed that the sound system in a non-premium basic Infiniti 2008 G is actually LOUDER than the Bose Premium. The difference is that Bose may have more wattage and the sound is more rich/vibrant but when you crank it up on the basic system (which i Tried in my G35 loaner) it gets louder in terms of actual decibels but sounds more basic...Same thing even in my Dad's 2000 Lexus GS400 it doesnt have Nakamichi sound it has Lexus Premium - but the volume actually goes louder with more impact and "boom factor to it - it just sounds a lil less refined at the upper level...

Morel Supremos are nice. I narrowed my selection down to Boston, Morel, and Focal. But I got an offer I couldn't refuse.
