New poster/G37 owner here. I've had my 2012 G37xS for about a month now and this forum has been great at helping me learn how to DIY when it comes to maintenance. (The G is my first car, so it's been fun working on it and learning how to do things) So about a week ago I went to fill my tires as I was moving to California. However, the previous owner had put metal caps on the valves and a few had corroded and become stuck. I learned the hard way and ended up snapping one of the valve stems. Unfortunately the only tire shop open on a Sunday was Walmart and they could only install a regular valve stem.
I ordered an OEM TPMS sensor online. (Pacific 407001LA0C) Took it in to Pep Boys to get it installed this morning and after installing it they said it wasn't sending a signal and they couldn't do anything. My guess is that Pep Boys wasn't following the correct relearn procedure, but I could be wrong. Can TPMS sensors with the G be finicky to relearn or did I just continue my steak of bad luck and got a bad sensor? TIA
First, is the sensor you bought new/used/refurbished and was it bought from a reputable seller?
The newest part number for your TPMS sensor is 40700-1LA0E, not C. It is possible the sensor you bought is dead (if you bought it "new" then it could be old/deadstock). If Pep Boys can't get a signal from the sensor then that is the likely culprit. Unlike other cars, the sensors in the G are bare bones basic units: they either send a signal "I'm working" or they don't.
EDIT: You can try the self-registration protocol as documented in the factory manual, if that fails then you likely have a bad sensor:

I bought it online from the website tpmsdirect.com. Unsure how reputable they are, but I'm guessing now not so much.
I didn't realize the updated the sensor, I just simply ordered the same sensor that was in the wheel to begin with. Thanks for the help though! I'll go ahead and start looking for another sensor.
