xs Coupe - staggered question
xs Coupe - staggered question
I have another thread seeking input on a set of wheels for my xs coupe, see:

A separate question - for those who have switched from a square to a staggered setup, what handling changes have you noticed? I believe that going with a wider tire in the rear, the grip in wet may suffer but dry handling will improve? Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I don't see how a wider tire would hinder the wet grip unless you went with a more performance oriented tire instead of an all season. More tire on the ground almost always means more grip.
Are wider tires more susceptible to hydroplaning? - Straight Dope Message Board
I know with snow tires you want narrower which makes sense to me. I always thought you would want wider in the rain though.
Thanks
That was my thought as well. There seems to be some debate though which surprised me - see:

Interesting points of view to say the least.. From what I got out of all of that is wider is still better, as long as the tread has plenty of area for the water to run through.
