Wheel adapters

Anyone have experience with wheel adapters???

I got the wife a new Audi Q5 and I want to put my spare Vossen CV4's on it.

But the bolt patterns are different.

I need a 5x112 to 5x114.3 adapter, but it cannot be too thick BC the Vossens are 20x10.5" squared so I want to minimize wheel poke and make them as flush as possible.

Something like .5" or .75" thickness would be preferable.

thought about using them in the past.. one of the reasons I decided against it was the thickness..
in my case.. even at minimum.. it pushed the wheel too far out causing clearance issues with the fender..
the minimum was the required depth for existing studs to properly mount to..

As far as their design/reliability, they will perform the same as a bolt-on wheel spacer so as long as the quality is there you'll be fine. Not sure the minimum thickness available, probably 15mm I'm guessing. There might also be a problem finding them w/ the correct hubcentric specs.

I've been running 19mm adapters from Motorsport-Tech for about two years now (Porsche wheels) and have had zero issues. Their website shows a minimum thickness of 15mm for hubcentric adapters.

You can run thin adaptors on the Q5 because they don't have lugs, they use lug bolts. So preferably you would want a adaptor that converted to 5x112 lugs. If you can find them, they will be as thin as 10mm.

Furthermore, you can try wobble bolts because 5x112 and 5x114.3 are very close. My boy ran 5x114.3 wheels on his A4 with wobble bolts. No need for adaptors.

You studs didn't stick out through the adapter at 19mm? Also can you use your original lug nuts adapter to Hun or do you need special small one the pictures make it hard to tell.

The stock studs stuck out just a little bit. I cut off about an 1/8" and still had plenty of threads for when I temporarily switched to GTR wheels. This might not be needed if your wheels have pockets on the backside of the mounting surface. The adapter came with nuts to bolt it to the stock hub. I hear they make low profile nuts for the smaller adapters now. Overall it was a simple bolt-on situation. Just make sure to follow the torque instructions.
