Work Wheels Tarnished! Need Help!

OK, Here is the deal.
I allowed some Average guy who does a decent job on detailing cars to do my car. he is mobile and doesn't own any company or anything, he does a fairly good job except this.....He uses Some acid cleaner to clean wheels

Now I'm not mad as i want to be but i take the full blame in a way. this guy works mostly in a...Ghetto...I work there too kinda, and it is my fault for even coming to him, i thought it was just convenience since he is near my job. BIG MISTAKE!
After taking my car back i notice some spots ( pics below ) and knew right away the big screw up i did, him being your average Joe, cleaning random cars probably never ever got near expensive wheels, how would he know of anodized rims or special coated expensive wheels Work wheels, Volks, Weds and what not. it is my fault for not telling him to use only soap and water, thinking he was cleaning cars for a while i didn't expect him to dare to use acid cleaners, I WAS WRONG, anyways moving on.....
didn't bother trying to remove those stains they are solid! so i went to this nice place that powder coats expensive wheels for all these nice show cars down here. i wanted to do a Two-Tone color (Bronze on the lip ) but since i have a 2-3 piece welded rim set, he can't take it apart to do that.it will be too costly and difficult to get to the area where the spokes and the lip meet,so the easy route is to Powder coat them one color. Now i need assistance on what color to go with? Ill post some pics and if needed Photoshop assistance will be appreciated !

Damaged wheels! ( And i just got them not too long ago )

There were a few posts before about the color "Sunken Treasure." It's a subtle shade if you want something that doesn't get in your face but would still get second looks on the street.

The tone on the Aventador is stunning. You should play around with caliper colors if you plan to paint/powdercoat them too.

Same thing happened to me. We took some wheel polish to it, since the finish was damaged anyways, and it came out pretty decent. I should take them to get professionally polished and or powder coat them.

Yeah such a bummer man! spend all that money on these darn wheels and in one car wash they are done with! But i want to make something out of this tragedy, Really digging the powder coat , just want the perfect color, the guy is waiting on me to decide what color to go with. so far leaning towards that nice gold tone on that Lambo.

OP was very calm compared to my reaction after I saw my Work Wheels stained. I went ballistic. This shop has been detailing cars for 35 years and they had never heard of Ph balanced wheel cleaners. I'm over it now though, after two months of being upset, I decided I would powder coat them black.

True, We just blew a Rod in a 240 drifting in Nola motorsport Sunday, We are getting a LS1 swap instead of the old Ka24De. im tired of being mad at all the surprise problems that come up with owning nice cars and having nice things, sometimes i say i don't deserve to drive nice cars, to much attention and everyone wants to park close and check you out, tired of leaving a parking lot after hanging around, shopping and finding a new scratch or dent on the car.

Now i direct my anger and frustration to something positive, sit down and cry a river? ( i really want too though...Because it feels right to do that... ) But anyways. Now to pick a color! and maybe it will be more enjoyable than before.. This time ill make sure i wash it my self

Friend suggested this red

The surface of the aluminum is whats messed up. just needs some love.

You should have them professionaly polished. they will look like new.
Or if you want you can do the work your self. start with some 1500 grit sand paper then 2000 then finish with a 3000 grit then some mothers polish.

Not only the lip is damaged but the spokes also, you can see the gunmetal color stained on the spokes, that probably happened from some type of tire shine he added, which he put so much i believe. i mean this guy screwed up big time, he apologized but i know he cannot afford to fix them and he is barley making a living. felt sorry for him a little bit. so i was like , my fault.

That is why i wanted to powder coat them completely. I can get away with the gunmetal on the spokes even though if you get close you will see stains where some areas are darker than others, you can even see like drips of darker shaded areas . i went online saw all kinds of solutions, so i just decided to powder coat.

I had this happen to a previous set of wheels on a different car. The tire shine actually stained the finish on the wheels. I was able to polish out the stains and it looked fine.

I agree with Ryne there's a chance those wheels are still salvageable! And if your set on powercoating them I'd definitely go with a bronze/gold color on a car as beautiful as yours. Best of luck and keep us posted with what you end up deciding to do!
